Microscopy Lunchtime Clinic sessions Feb 10th (Tui & Kakapo) & 11th (Pohutukawa & Kowhai)
The first 2 lunchtime sessions of the Clinic will be putting different types of sand, food and other mystery objects under the microscope.
How do your favourite foods, such as yoghurt, celery, carrot, onions and spices magnified many times really look like? How many different bacteria are in your favourite yoghurt? What are crystals or not ?
Our forensic scientist is going to show you how to pull fingerprints from a glass or be a fibre detective. There might even be a mystery to be solved.
Learn how to use a binocular stereozoom microscope, usb digital microscope camera and compound microscope and how to prepare microscope slides.
You are also welcome to bring your own small object or bug for viewing under the microscope. Maybe you found something really interesting in the holidays?
